Gynaecology/ physio appointment- what to expect?

I’ve got an appointment next week with a physio for my pelvic floor issues - what can I expect at the appointment? Will I be physically examined?

I’m scared they’re just going to tell me to go away and do pelvic floor exercises - but I think I’m beyond that now and need something more - but I don’t know what options are available.

Any advice from anyone who’s been through the same? Thanks x

I'm seeing a gynae physio at the moment.

At my first appointment i was asked a lot of questions about symptoms and she talked about pelvic floor exercises, how to do them etc and then felt my stomach whilst I was doing them to make sure my stomach muscles were contracting properly. Given some info and sent on my way to carry on doing pelvic floors

I was only examined internally at my second appointment. The examination was fine - it's a gloved finger and she just inserts it and gets you to do pelvic floor exercises so they can check for strength and that you are doing them correctly. I'm someone who absolutely hates internal examinations and I could tolerate this fine.

Some physios may want to examine you at the first appointment and it can be helpful, I only found out at the 2nd apt that my pelvic floor was now too tight as I had been overdoing the exercises!
