How long have you waited for a smear test result?

I was wondering what is the longest you have waited for a smear test result? Mine will be 6 weeks tomorrow and the doctors say there is a massive back log.

3 weeks then found out needed colposcopy.Been waiting for results of that for 6 weeks.

I had one about 5 weeks ago. Still waiting.....

There have been a few bank holidays

My latest, which I had in February, was 11 weeks for the results.

My most recent one was about 4 weeks. Was told I’d get a letter in 2 weeks time. Rang the doctors surgery twice before getting results over the phone. Still waiting for the letter 5 months later...

I had my smear 6 weeks ago and haven't heard anything.

Had mine beginning of April and had results through the post exactly 2 weeks later

It depends on where you live, as some labs are better staffed than others. There's a nationwide shortage of trained staff unfortunately.
The publicity campaign coincinded with the awarding of contracts for the new service, where the number of labs will reduce from 50 to 9. Staff are leaving 😓
The labs are doing the best they can, but they need to make sure the quality is maintained. They don't want people to have to wait ages for a result.
Check in with your practice to see what the turnaround time is now.

My last one took 16 weeks to come back. I then needed a colposcopy, which I had within 2 weeks, the results of which took around 8 weeks to come back. My area is one that was trialling the HPV testing, which caused a massive backlog in smear results being sent out though.

Wow 16 weeks. Mines been 7 weeks and still no results. The nurse didn't mention testing for HPV but I assume they would. I'm from Leeds. The waiting is the horrible part. All my previous smears were ok but I had my results back within 2 weeks.

It was 8 weeks for me - Birmingham

My last smear I waited 9weeks for my result.

Finally got my results today after 8.5 weeks. Everything normal, no more worrying now!

11 weeks today and just received results, all clear. Such a horrible wait as you always have it at the back of your mind. Hope everyone else gets results soon.

I've got to have another smear this year due to my biopsy results last year. The leaflet that came with my invitation says I should get the results within 2 weeks. That's certainly an improvement on the 16 weeks I waited last year!
