Dissolvable stitches after laparoscopy

Hi

I thought I’d ask you lovely people first before bothering my doctor.

I had a laparoscopy on 24th April and I have three incisions. The two smaller incisions are ok but the larger one, by my belly button, still has two stitches remaining. I’m wondering if I should go to the doctors to have them removed?

I googled and it’s pretty vague how long it should take for the stitches to dissolve.

I’m desperate to have a nice bath or even go swimming so I’d love to get this sorted.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

You need to call the hospital and ask. If your skin has healed can't you have a bath anyway?

I second ringing the hospital, they will know what kind of stitches you've got.
I seem to recall having some sort of glue!?

I've had a few laps as I have endometriosis, my stitches always took weeks to dissolve but you can go to your gp surgery and get a nurse to take them out Smile

I left mine 2 weeks & when I could see that everything was totally healed I snipped the stitches with a clean pair of nail scissors then pulled out the stitches, I only had a couple left, everything was totally healed, I then bathed it with boiled water that had salt dissolved in it.

I’m the same mine was 2 days after yours. I was advised to see go nurse to get them taken out if not gone after a week. Mine appt is not till 2 weeks and already there’s less there so I’ll end up cancelling I think. I’ve had baths too, I think it was just the first couple of days while the dressings were on I could only have showers. Are you still bruised round belly button?
