Brown discharge instead of period?

I'm on the pill and have been for many years. I always get my period on the same day and every month it's pretty much the same. The only symptom I get sometimes is an headache.
Anyway I had unprotected sex last weekend and now instead of getting my period I'm getting a brown discharge, not a lot and if I had to compare it to my period I would say it's much much less. Second day, in the morning still brown discharge and now it's gone. I'm really confused with what is going on as this has never happened before? I would like to think the risk of me being pregnant is pretty low? I'm not taking any medication, the only thing I am taking is cbd oil for anxiety, could this have stopped birth control from working?

This happened to me last month with the coil fitted, I was pregnant although miscarried around the time the time my period was due (so I suppose more of a chemical pregnancy). I think the brown discharge started around the time of implantation and basically didn't stop until I'd finish my period/miscarriage. So it was spotting and bleeding for 2-3 weeks in total. Sorry not wanting to worry you.

I'm afraid you need to get a pregnancy test.

It's been only about 9/10 days would a pregnancy test work at this stage or is it too early?

It may be worth waiting a few days, although you can pick up tests cheaply at Wilko.
