Extremely low mood just after period

I've been trying to track my cycles as my periods are very heavy and I do get so hormonal, but I have noticed the worst time for me is a couple of days after my period when I become so low, I have no motivation, really tearful and I sometimes feel suicidal which is really worrying. A day or two later I'm back to normal and follow all the trends on my tracker until my period starts.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Is it normal? My tracker is saying my mood should be starting to lift now but I've spent all morning crying.

I think I'm worse just after. I think it's an iron thing because they're so heavy. I take St John Wort which I think helps with my mood. I do think exercise helps, but it's extra hard when you're low anyway.

But feeling suicidal is definitely the point when you should speak to your GP. Have you discussed it with them?

I have had some therapy for for anxiety and low self esteem about 6 months ago but this feels different, I only have those feelings for one or two days.

It's interesting saying about the iron deficiency, I've been taking floradix for a couple of months and definitely feel better in myself for it, but I only take it once a day, I'll try taking it twice daily around my period to see if that helps.

Thank you for your replies, I'm feeling much better today.
