Episiotomy open after 7 weeks

My son is 7 weeks old. I had a difficult back to back labour and it ended up with my son being delivered with forceps. I had an episiotomy which is still causing me a lot of pain. In the first couple of days the stitches broke down and it became infected- I was in agony and couldn't get off the sofa. This was treated with antibiotics and I felt much better until last week when a stinging pain started. I saw my GP who said it was still open and prescribed antibiotics. I have finished the course of antibiotics and it still feels no better :( I'm going to see my GP tomorrow but I just wanted to see if anyone has any advice? I'm so worried it will never heal and it is starting to get me down. I am worried that I will have to go and get it redone and I will have to stay the healing process all over again! Has anyone else had a similar experience? Thanks in advance! Xx

Mines burst after a few days with no infection but slouthy area so was pretty awful!? (Terrible spelling). Can't imagine how sore it must be for you! Don't think they will restitch it unless absolutely necessary as it can introduce infection into the site.

Get lavender and tea tree oil and put 3 dots of each on your pads. (Top, middle, bottom of pad)

Pending if you're still bleeding or not, get some air at it! Even if you put an old towel down and like with no bottoms on for a while.

It will get better OP! Sending you massive love. Keep up with regular pain relief too.

Samind thanks so much for your quick reply! I have tried tea tree and lavender in the bath but must try it on a pad too. I will also try and get some air at it as well! Did yours take long to heal after your stitches opened? X

Still healing and nearly not noticable tbh (love a mirror check up haha) and she's nearly 5months and tbh I really should be doing pelvic floors but keep forgetting!

Took about 9 weeks pp til I felt able to move freely and not wince etc I think it was sitting in the baths dissolved mine. Could be totally wrong though.

If it's sore to sit, my health visitor recommended putting maternity pads into sandwich bag in freezer and using to keep it cooled down too.

Congrats on baby BTW. Should of mentioned that in first post 😂😍 sounds cliche but one morning you'll wake up and it honestly won't be as bad!

The best thing I found was as a pp mentioned is to air it. I laid on a disposable changing mat (tmi) and just aired out my episiotomy and my dignity haha. It will sort itself out, you just have to give it the right conditions.

Thanks both for the advice! Its reassuring to know that others have got better after having this. I saw my GP today and she said it still looked raw and open :( she thought I should go to gynae to get cauterized but they won't see me until at least 12 weeks pp
In the mean time I will let plenty of air at it! I have definitely already lost my dignity! X
