I'm currently 8 months into breastfeeding, it has gone well with few problems. This lunchtime though I noticed my left boob was painful, and the area above my nipple was hard. Ive tried expressing, feeding DS from that side, massage and warm compress but its still there. It feels like a large heavy sack inside my boob, and it feels swollen behind the nipple. Feeding was not painful though and I can't see anything untoward on the nipple.
I wonder if anyone has had similar and can offer any advice? Does it sound like a blocked duct? I've read mastitis can make you feel terrible, but so far I feel fine. If it's no better in the morning I'll pop to the doctors I think just to be on the safe side.
