Writing on behalf of my daughter, she has ASD. She’s now 13 and started her periods when she was 10, her periods are often irregular and very heavy, sometimes she will go 6 months with out one. Recently she went over 6 months and now in the last 5 weeks she has had 3, first one was light and the other 2 very heavy. She is totally oblivious to when she needs to change so it can be hard work, she often bleeds everywhere ruining underwear, bedding and her carpet. GP put her in the mini pull last year but this caused continues bleeding. I am wondering if she has PCOS, she has some dark facial hair (though she’s dark haired anyway), really bad acne on her face and the irregular periods. We have just changed GP’s so I will try and get her an appointment but what do I need to ask for to check for PCOS ?
