Im going to get straight to the point on this one! Is there a diet plan for this?

My docs just keep giving me antiboitics. It goes away but comes back after a week. Its really getting to me now. Third time in three months!
I don't douche
I don't smoke
I don't use soap or anything else down there
I don't use scented toilet rolls

But bv is always here. Does anyome know if there is any herbal treatment avaliabke for this? Chinese medicine?

At the same time im trying to get pregnant, but how can i when im using canesten gels down there (the gel makes the vagina a unwelcoming enviroment for sperm so it doesnt even reach the egg) on top of that my periods are irregular!

I just need some advice has anyone else been through this and what made it go away?

Any recommendations would be great x

You can get balance activ ttc gels. It's a bugger as there hasn't been much progress with long term treatment. When I chatted to GP I thought it was hormonal as it was just before period. If you do find the answer, let me know!

HavelockVetinari · 15/04/2019 13:35

The infection isn't going away properly. You need a longer course of antibiotics. Go back to the GP and request it.

TrickortreaT2 · 15/04/2019 14:29

@Saminad i didnt know there was ttc gels avaliable, i will try that. And i will let you know if i ever find a anwser, thus my third year with it still waiting for a anwser lol

@havelockvetinari theyve given me a longer course but i will ask them again. The issue is the terrible side effects! I wpuldnt mind suffering them if the problem went away!

@thewreck- did you try much else before that?

VictoriaReal · 15/04/2019 15:31

Yes OP! I feel your pain. I luckily only had one unexplained bout but it was so painful I did loads of research so as to ensure I never had it again! Not enough actual research done (as usual for a woman's issue Hmm) but a few research papers are available. Anyway, what I discovered in my research is that certain probiotics containing a special strain of friendly bacteria called rhamnosus reuteri rebalance the bacteria in the vagina. I took this alongside doing the activv gel that's been mentioned, and it never came back! 🙌🏽

You can get Femdopolis tablets which contain the reuteri strain on Amazon. Expensive but totally worth it. I took those for about 6 months and kept up the Activv fit about a month.

Good luck!!!

thewreckofthehesperus · 15/04/2019 16:28

Canesten and probiotics were my usual go to. I would head to the GP for Diflucan if it was really bad.

I am a regular enough sufferer, every other month or so.

A month ago I had a bad dose after an antibiotic for a UTI and I headed back to the GP thinking it was the UTI returning. She gave me a script for the diflucan and told me to use the Relactagel also. You get seven individual use tubes for €13.50 (I'm in Ireland) and I used three or four before I felt it had completely gone. I have to say though the relief after using it the first night was amazing. Much quicker than the canesten.

Doing some research online people seem to say the relactagel is for upkeep, so they would use it after sex etc or anything they think could be a trigger. I have used it a few times since I discovered it when ever I felt a twinge and nothing has developed further so I'm hoping I've finally found something that works. I can't believe I had never heard of it before, I feel like singing it from the rooftops (I swear I dont have shares in the stuff) Grin

TrickortreaT2 · 15/04/2019 18:46

www.stressnomore.co.uk/balance-activ-conceive-fertility-gel-92611.html

I've never used it so can't say of it's effectiveness. I have had to use the balance activ but I just want a normal bloody PH!!!! Is it so difficult 😂😂

Beanzy78 · 15/04/2019 19:07

It may sound strange but have you cut out carbs and sugars? I had BV and someone suggested cutting these foods.

However, I had also found out after months later, it was because I was diabetic.

slowdownplease · 15/04/2019 20:11

Random question. But do you take baths or a shower?

I find if I take baths more than 2/3 times a week I get BV, whereas if I take showers i hardly ever get it. Maybe the hot water is aggravating it?

Samind · 15/04/2019 20:13

Could be soap is getting in the vaginal area? I have no idea though. If I did, I wouldn't get it 😂😂 it's bloody horrible!

TrickortreaT2 · 15/04/2019 20:36

Thanks guys im loving the replies x
@slowdownplease i have a shower all the time and the waters not.very warm so its not that

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in April, after some discomfort down below for some time.

I followed the Keto then the Newcastle diet, 4 months later, lost 4 stone and was no longer type 2 or in the prediabetic category.

I had to cut out carbs, was on 15g of carbs a day. I absolutely hated it but I have to admit it has stopped the itching.... although I wouldn't recommend what I did.xx

LisaL38 · 16/04/2019 12:33

Stop having baths, don’t use jacuzzis - you don’t use soap already - try the bath. Changed my vagina’s life!

ILoveCrunchyAutumnLeaves · 16/04/2019 12:38

Balance Active gels are the only thing that stopped it recurring for me and safe to use.

TrickortreaT2 · 16/04/2019 23:49

Hey girls i was having a very interseting chat with a friend today
She used to suffer from bv, she tried gels, antibiotics yoghurt changed diet, used no soaps etc bv would go away but come back soon
Then she reliesed maybe its her partner.. he washes himself with soap, (and us woman get told that soap can cause bv)

She thinks when their were having sex it might have irrated her and caused bv. So she told him and he stopped using soap down there. She said since hes stopped using soap bv has stopped too!!

Im feeling a bit confused..

I went doctors about 6 7 weeks ago regarding bv she did some swab tests but results came back showing there was no bv.

Two days ago i went to a walk in sexual health clinic and did tests - got the results straight away for bv. It was positive
she did other tests too but she said there was no uti no other infection no stds just bv!! And gave me antibiotics

Anyways today ive got a call from my own gp saying they need to book an appointment with me to see doctor regarding some results. My appointments in two weeks time.

Im just a bit confused - why does the doctor want to see me if there is nothing else wrong... could it be something else? Im worried now
