Has anyone had a laparoscopy before?

Hi,

I'm booked in for my laparoscopy as I've had various symptoms for months and my scans have shown larger ovaries and cysts but I'm just wanting to hear from others that have had one done please.

I'm not sure how long I'll have to take off work. I have to fly long haul for work two and 17 days post op and I'm hoping that'll be ok.

I'm really not sure what to expect and slightly freaking out. I will also need to remove my coil and need to consider alternative contraception as we're not in a position to start TTC as I also start a new job in July. Seems like so much is going on but I need to get these things sorted sooner rather than later so when we do TTC hopefully I'll have a clean bill of health.

Oh that’s really nice, glad she was nice to you! Yeah I don’t think I’ve known many people be back to work the day after an anaesthetic, let alone after a op that can make you feel quite sore and bloated. If you’re honest about being nervous, they’ll al go out of their way to reassure you. Honestly with my last one, I felt the meds go in, the anaesthetist said ‘You’ll be feeling sleepy’, the next thing I know they’re making me up in recovery!

@FaithInfinity thank you. Yes they are very good when you're nervous. I also get so emotional after having a general anaesthetic.

It also doesn't help that my DP can't be with me after the op. He has his kiddies on a Wednesday night and I don't want to disrupt their routine.

Hi all

Just thought I’d give an update. I had the laparoscopy yesterday and they also performed two other surgeries (unsure of the names)

It went well but I have three incision instead of one now. They removed a lot of endometriosis at the back and also scar tissue. They found endometriosis on my bladder too but they didn’t laser it off as they were worried about damaging my bladder.

I had a rough night and when I got up to go to the loo, I nearly passed out. My blood pressure dropped and my heart rate was 42 bpm so that was pretty scary.

Just resting up now watching Netflix. If anyone has some good recommendations then feel free to share.
