Hi

Please this is far tmi but I need advice.

I’m week and a half post lletz treatment on my cervix for pre cancerous cells.

All was normal and fine, my period was as usual and it seemed to be ending today.. then today from 6pm I’ve been bleeding and flooding constantly and super heavy like never before. I’m going through 1-4 soaked pads an hour with very very very large clots. When I sit on the loo it basically runs out of me

Im not pregnant (negative test last week)
Just come back from out of hours doc who was beyond dismissive and unhelpful I wanted to scream..

Anyone else experienced this? How long til it stopped? Did you need treatment?

Thanks
Xx

Phone 111. If you are losing that much blood you need checking out tonight.

strawberrylollipop · 27/03/2019 00:02

This happened to me - I had an infection ... had to have antibiotics.

This was after 2 doctors had told me it was "normal"

It took another doctor to examine me internally and he said infection straight away - antibiotics and I felt 100% better

I've not had lletz treatment. However I believe the standard advice is that if you're soaking more than 1 pad per hour, you need to be seen ASAP. At the very least, that's a lot of iron for your body to be losing. Maybe call 111 for advice? Did the hospital give you any advice when they discharged you after treatment?

CateyA · 27/03/2019 00:11

I phoned 111 who booked me an appointment with the doctor and the urgent advice centre- she said she wasn’t worried

Been in bed 30 min and already had to change my bedding, pjs and pad 😓

Thanks @strawberrylollipop

I’ve got a go appointment first thing luckily so I will ask for an exam

Tonight doc said she didn’t think it was anyway linked to the lletz- sometimes I despair of the low priority/ lack of understanding regarding women’s health issues

I'd phone back or even phone an ambulance. You need to be seen again. There's a thread on here somewhere about a poster who almost died from an infection and she was bleeding in the same way. Do you have someone with you?

TwistinMyMelon · 27/03/2019 00:16

Get checked out. I have treated a woman who lost a lot of blood after a lletz once. It's rare but does happen. Could also be sign of an infection

strawberrylollipop · 27/03/2019 00:17

@CateyA

Don't want to scare you or anything - it may be fine / normal.

The hospital was meant to discharge me with antibiotics and they didn't. Only found out when I finally saw my gp and he asked if I'd taken them as the hospital said they'd given them to me on my discharge Hmm

Definitely ask to be examined - my gp wanted me to wait 4 days until there was a female nurse to do it - I said I was fine with him doing it there and then; so he said fine - I was glad I said do it because I felt awful as well as the constant blood loss.
Hope you get some answers tomorrow Biscuit

My partners here. I’m going to set my alarm through out the night to change my pad and I’ll check how I feel.

My blood pressure etc was fine at the hospital an hour ago so I should be ok til 9am

Do you still have your post-op leaflet from the lletz? You may be able to ring the department when they open.

AwdBovril · 27/03/2019 08:37

Hope you're ok this morning CateyA. Push to be seen & listened to properly. If it's not related to the lletz treatment that's equally worrying - something is causing it. You shouldn't be bleeding this heavily.

CateyA · 27/03/2019 17:51

So quick update.
The very very heavy bleeding finally stopped about 8am.
I saw a lovely gp who explained it was likely that the scab on the treatment area had come off and that was the cause of the bleeding.
She said she didn’t want to examine me today as she was worried it would rupture again since it had only recently stopped bleeding.
She gave me antibiotics for potential infection and a medication to stop the bleeding if it started to be heavy again.
She told me to come back in a week if the bleeding hadn’t ceased totally and was generally reassuring

I’ve slept for the rest of the day I think the combination of no sleep anxiety and blood loss has wiped me out.

I’m still crampy but just have a light flow now.

I also put a small feedback complaint in about the really unhelpful and unempathetic doctor I saw last night at the hospital

AwdBovril · 27/03/2019 20:12

Glad to know you've seen someone who's actually listened to you. Hope it does slow down really soon. I was thinking about you today, thanks for the update.

AwdBovril · 27/03/2019 20:13

I mean stop really soon, not slow down, obviously.

CateyA · 27/03/2019 20:17
