Pmdd (severe pmt) has anyone seen a gynaecologist for this?

For as long as I can remember I have spent 2 weeks in hell before my period. I literally want to die. I can't sleep as I am so itchy and hot. I suffer from anxiety but my goodness it increases 10 fold. I'm so fed up of suffering and am thinking of asking for a referral. Anyone else have this? I would really appreciate your experiences. Thanks :)

Yep, I got a referral to a gynaecologist for PMDD. She prescribed the pill on a continuous basis to keep hormones level, and it's been great for a couple of years now.

My cousin saw a Harley Street gynaecologist privately. Her GP didn't recognise it as a condition. She was very much helped from the one visit.

Whowantstoknow - do you mind if I ask how old you are? I'm really worried taking the pill at my age with the breast cancer risk. Also, what one was you prescribed? Thank you :)

Babyfoal - that's good to know for an option. I'm glad it helped your cousin!

No but I have the same experience as op, I’m 35

Sorry to hear that Tessy, there must be something they can do to help us. I take Menopace and various other supplements too.

Thanks mindful - I’m just seeing your message. They gave me low dose Prozac which helps a bit I think, although it annoys me that they’re not treating the cause not just the symptoms - do you think something like that might work for you?

Tessywoooooo · 14/03/2019 19:32

I also do menopace, b12 sublingual, Primrose oil, vit d and St. John’s wort 😆

I tried agnus castus for a few months after having my baby as I got really bad pmt all of a sudden. It seemed to really help.

5hpt helps you sleep if anyone is having trouble with that

I have the same problem! Saw my gp, whom referred me to a gynaecologist. Gynaecologist suggested pill/coil/anti-depressants. Not sure I want to do any of that so she has referred me to a specialist in women’s hormones, nick Panay. He runs a private practice but have heard that he has a very long waiting list atm.
