Btw periods bleeding

For the last year on and off I've had small, bright red vaginal bleeds a few days before my period. Is this the start of a period or something I need to get checked? I'm early 40s and not on contraception, have endometriosis so very heavy bleeding and lots of pain once the period gets going. Sometimes follows sex on the previous night and sometimes not...

I've googled but it doesn't totally 'fit'...

I had bleeding between periods and after sex and it was polyps. An easy procedure to remove them and fixed the bleeding instantly. Might be worth checking out
