Orange stains/ cotton damage - on black cotton underwear

Sam2112 · 27/02/2019 17:13

Sorry for topic, but a mystery.
I have found that i have orange stains on my black cotton underwear. In the gusset area.
Yes i have experienced heavy periods, and excessive bleeding, but it is NOT blood stain, nor "discharge". The mark is as if the cotton had burnt.
AND only one black cotton. The actual cotton is marked.
ANY IDEAS?

not just one brand -

It happens to all mine. Something to do with your bodies ph I think?

FoofFighter · 27/02/2019 17:16

Yes it's your natural ph being a little acidic and bleaching the black fabric

Aaaahfuck · 27/02/2019 17:17

I always thought it was the enzymes in the bio washing liquid working on the area which has discharge on it leaving a bit of a bleach stain. I think it's totally normal.

ItchySeveredFoot · 27/02/2019 17:19

I use non bio.

MadameGazelleIsMyHomegirl · 27/02/2019 17:22

I get this and I only use ecover washing liquid

anniehm · 27/02/2019 17:24

It's acidic discharge, alas just part of being a woman

Aaaahfuck · 27/02/2019 17:28

Well that's my theory shot!!
Still it is totally normal which is the main thing.

FrozenMargarita17 · 27/02/2019 17:29

Happens to all of mine I'm afraid

Sam2112 · 27/02/2019 17:49

WOW, so i have acid in vagina? sounds dodgy for anyone, or anything exploring that area
Surely scary stuff ?
BUT explains the "burns" - PHEW - thought something wrong with me.. and was intersex issue...
Something "normal" about me at last

Sam2112 · 27/02/2019 17:52

i had assumed something to do with washing incorrectly, or something wrong with my body - being intersex -
So am relieved - seriously !

Thanks for all comments - had delayed asking -

But for me it’s something that has only happened since I entered my mid 30s. Never happened before.

Sam2112 · 27/02/2019 17:56

I am 53... and only noticed in last few years and only on black cotton?

we did not know we are acidic !! hot stuff i guess

OP posts:
GlitterPixie · 27/02/2019 18:02

Happens all my black underwear too I thought it was acids

Sam2112 · 27/02/2019 18:20

why are we not made aware of this?
had worried me - and yet seems "normal"
Another stigma of "female" issues i imagine -

GregoryPeckingDuck · 27/02/2019 18:22

A lot of black fabric goes orange when bleached

Sam2112 · 27/02/2019 20:30

interesting - you learn something new every day -
never even thought i could produce acid that could burn fabric -

Yep, it’s acidic discharge. There’s a great scene in Green wing where the Scottish HR woman describes her fanny as “ten times too tart”

Sam2112 · 27/02/2019 20:36

love that - will track it down. "beware all who enters here..." acidic !!

picklemepopcorn · 27/02/2019 20:40

I wear washable pads to protect mine. I hate the bleached patches!

TheInvestigator · 27/02/2019 20:43

I've heard people calling it "russet gusset". Totally normal. Some women will have it, some won't. All our bodies are different and a slight change in pH is all it takes.

Sam2112 · 27/02/2019 20:43

great idea, had only realised that i was able to "bleach" underwear since asking - -
Is option, as still having issues with endometriosis - not helping.. i am a leaky human, have "pretty clever pants" that are protective pants - have burned a few of them -

Sam2112 · 27/02/2019 20:45

mine must be fairly acidic - now i know!
must be the diet I imagine?

Fleabag123 · 27/02/2019 21:00

Acidic is a good thing! The vagina contains lactobacilli (good bacteria) and their job is to produce lactic acid which keeps everything in check down there

Fleabag123 · 27/02/2019 21:01

@sam2112 no, nothing to do with diet.

Sam2112 · 27/02/2019 21:07

OK... good news - I guess - I will welcome my good bacteria - hope they are all happy down there - they seem to have been busy burning my black "pretty clever pants" -
