I'm waiting on a scan as the doctor thinks I have gallstones, just wondering what other people's symptoms are as not really known if many people that have suffered with this.

Common symptoms are nausea, vomiting, severe to excruciating pain under bottom rib right side that can radiate up to right shoulder blade and back and jaundice. Does it hurt if you push just below bottom rib right side?

Horrendous pain under ribs and around middle, radiating up your back. Nausea, vomiting. I've had gallstones and it's awful. It was such a relief when my gallbladder was removed!!

Yeh it's really sore to push my ribs on the right hand side, really bad burning and aching in my back in between my shoulder blades and below my neck ,and pain in the middle of both my ribs! I'm a big eater so don't think that has really been helping

From your symptoms it certainly could be gallstones. As others have said the horrible pain is the worst part. I suffered for many months before being diagnosed and was lucky to only wait a short time before being operated on and the offending gall bladder being removed. Good luck.

First attack I had I was worried I might be be having a heart attack - awful pain in the middle of my chest, felt like there was a vice around my ribs, and then I projectile vomited all over a paramedic. They did a scan, confirmed gallstones and sent me home.

Nothing happened for a year apart from the odd twinge. Then I had another attack - didn’t initially hurt as much as the first, didn’t see the point in going to hospital as I had strong painkillers at home. But it just wasn’t getting better and after five days the pain exploded - went to the doctor who sent me straight to hospital, I had a severe gallbladder infection and pancreatitis. Was in hospital for nearly three weeks and seriously ill.

I’d be very careful and if any attacks last days, get yourself checked out right away.

Your symptoms, seem a perfect fit OP. I had gallstones blooming agony the pain was awful. Had my gallbladder removed, no issues since. In the meantime avoid fatty foods as that can bring on an episode. Good luck OP.

I had gallstones in the last couple of months of my pregnancy and for a couple of years after my son was born, this was in 2002-2004. It was so painful that I thought I was in labour the first time I had an attack, as I’d never had a baby or gallstones before. When my son was a baby I was taken to hospital with an attack and scans revealed it was gallstones causing the pain and vomiting. Nothing was done about it, the attacks just eventually stopped, I did find fatty foods would trigger an attack. I would be doubled over in agony, stomach would feel very tight and I would be extremely sick. Not nice. Not had a full attack in years but every now and then will get a niggle that feels like a very mild attack.

A good time to research "Post Cholecystectomy Syndrome" too, the presence of repeated biliary colic attacks, with the same gallstones symptoms, following gallbladder removal. Higher chance after keyhole surgery too. Has been almost two years since my gallbladder was removed and have had 2-3 attacks, lasting hours to days, per week since. No cure.

Beansandcoffee · 25/02/2019 19:31

I’ve had a few attacks and was scanned and confirmed I had gallstones. I’ve not had a major attack since, I watch what I eat and refrain from eating too much cream, full fat cheese, etc

SinkGirl · 25/02/2019 21:33

Steeve that’s awful - I’m very lucky that I’ve had no problems since. Not everyone needs theirs removed obviously, hopefully the OP can avoid it.

Thanks for all the advice will see what the scan on Friday shows! I been thinking that all the pain Should be on my right side but the last week or so a lot of the pain has been all on my left side? In my shoulder all across my ribs (over left breast)which is very worrying considering the heart is their 😬 doctor listened to my heart and put that machine thing on my finger and assured me it wasn't my heart, still doesn't stop you from thinking it when you have the pain their!
