2 Inadequate smears in a row.

Hello. I was due my smear in October which I had, but had an inadequate test so had to wait for 3months for a fresh one. Had this a couple of weeks ago and have had the results back as again inadequate for getting a result.

So I have to wait another 3 months again for another smear.

Starting to get anxious about this as a) what is to say they will even be able to get a result next time in 3months and b) if there are any issues I’ll be 6 months down the line in terms of treatment.

I’ve had clear smears for 15 years or more so not sure what the problem is at the moment but must admit this will be playing on my mind now until they actually are able to get a clear result.

Has anyone else had multiple inadequate smear tests? I called the surgery and they said they can’t repeat the smear earlier as cells need to replenish but said I could see GP to discuss concerns, but not sure what that will achieve.

Argh just wanted this one to come back clear 🙏

Have they both been done by the same person? If so go to someone else.

Are you going at the right time in your cycle?

Hello. Thanks for the reply. Same practice but different nurses. Yes between 10 and 15 days after start of last period. She said she took lots last time and has had a looks and “all seemed nice and healthy” (whatever that means!) at the last one, given the previous inadequate result.

So disappointed it’s happened again as worrying now x

It's just one of those things. Hopefully the next one will ok. You seem to be doing everything ok.
