The reality of periods and all the joy they bring

Just been out with friends and we were discussing periods and the symptoms we get a week before, during and sometimes after. The variety was shocking -

Sickness
Upset stomach
Low mood
Aches and pains
Cramps
Headaches
Migraines
Being sick
Feeling weak and wrung out

It’s mad really that we are just supposed to put up with it - for some of us it can be two nearly three weeks of every month affected.

My sleep is always really bad during my period as well and I get temple headaches and my anxiety always increases.

Do you suffer a lot with yours?

I loose a week to crippling depression each month. But I don’t really see what there is to do but put up with it. It’s not like periods can be medicated away.

Arse daggers, diarrhoea, carb cravings, hideous cramping that always, always comes on at about 3.00 a.m., flooding ...
Oh and in recent years I have a tortuous on/off slow start before the above all kicks in. I’ve resorted to wearing thin pads for days while it makes up it's mind. It all goes on for about 10 days!
