Depression around ovulation?

Lightgreenblue · 06/02/2019 17:40

I've been tracking my moods for a few months. Pretty consistently I notice that the worst part of the month is ovulation. I have low self-esteem, take everything more personally, struggle to focus. Conversely around my period I'm pretty rational, more productive and confident.

According to google this is not a "thing"! Does anyone else have this or am I a weirdo??

Oh yes! This is me, I'm a nightmare around ovulation.

Hemlock2013 · 06/02/2019 17:44

Me too!!! X

Toffeeandcoffee · 06/02/2019 17:49

Yes me too!
I feel best the week before my period and during it. The rest of the month I'm plagued with anxiety. I'm 45 and very peri too. Think I may be estrogen dominant going by sympto.

Toffeeandcoffee · 06/02/2019 17:50

Symptoms, posted too soon!

Lightgreenblue · 06/02/2019 17:55

So it's not just me! Why does this happen?? Surely it doesn't make biological sense?

Could it mean I'm premenopausal??

Yep, my anxiety sky rockets around ovulation and I just feel mentally crap!

iamnobird hmm interesting but it doesn't quite reflect the pattern I'm seeing - I seem to start feeling worse a few days before ovulation? In theory when I'm at my most fertile and therefore should be feeling confident and attractive!

This doesn’t happen to me but happens to someone I know.

Are you 100% on ovulation date? Are you testing for ovulation? You maybe out by a few days to account for it?
I feel really down and on edge just before my period

EBearhug · 06/02/2019 19:16

I feel brilliant and my best at of ovulation, and almost suicidal just before my period. But we all react to things differently, so I see no reason why it shouldn’t be the other way round with some women.

Lightgreenblue · 06/02/2019 20:16

I'm pretty certain on ovulation date, yes. Get quite clear physical signs!

I've definitely heard of feeling brilliant around ovulation but never the opposite until this thread.

I'm similar but mine plummets the days after ovulation and the week before my period. It's miserable!
