Hello everyone! Need abit of advice, I'm due to go in for my first sigmoidoscopy next Tuesday! I'm really nervous, not so much about the moviprep I suffer with going to the toilet far more then the normal average anyway! So shouldn't be too much different! Well fingers crossed eh.. anyway, I'm more nervous about the fasting & the actual exam it's self, can everyone tell me there experiences? It says I have to fast from 9am the day before - how do I cope! Haha, I'll have to get up super early to have a good breakfast eh! & also it says I can drink certain liquids, what did everyone else drink?

I usually stick with water or white grape juice. There's a sports drink here called Gatoraid that's allowed but I don't care for it.

The hunger is annoying but can be ignored for a while. Something like the white grape juice will keep your blood sugar levels up, which helps with the hunger.

Good luck with the procedure.

Do you have some form of IBD?

Hi OP I think I had some beef consomme which was like very watery soup. I managed the fasting ok but I went to bed early! The Moviprep tasted disgusting but did the job. The actual procedure was fine but I did choose to have the sedative which helped. It does mean you need someone to take you home.
The anticipation was worse than the actual procedure. Good luck
