DD pill constant breakthrough bleeding

DD (13, not sexually active) was started on combined pill in Sept due to menorrhagia for months and iron def anaemia. The GP advised running 3 packs together to minimise bleeding. However DD has had quite a bit of breakthrough bleeding, especially when she exercises. It’s much better than off the pill when she was pretty much bleeding non stop but still.

She has a gynae appointment soon. Just wondered if anyone else has had this problem, thanks.

I’m (significantly!) older than your DD but have had this problem for years. Various blood tests and scans have never got to the bottom of it. Running packs together doesn’t seem to make much impact. I’ve just learned to live with it. It’s very light so doesn’t really bother me.

My natural cycle is only three weeks long so I’ve always wondered if that’s a factor.

Thanks soft she’s had various blood tests and no platelet or clotting disorders found either.

Has she tried any other types of the pill?
I had this when I was taking microgynon - I switched to another name and it stopped

No, just this one, I was hoping it’d settle. Guess we’ll carry on and see what gynaecologist thinks.

I had the same problem on the combined pill. On the mini pill now and had breakthrough bleeding at the start, then it stopped and I've not had a period for 2 years. Would raise with the doctor perhaps
