Can't take this (period) pain any more!

I have just had a 'bad' one and I've never felt pain like it. I woke up this morning and it hit me like a train, I was bent double walking to the loo, shooting pains taking my breath away. Then going for a wee/poo... ouch!!! I was retching and sweating, I nearly passed out. If I have any gas it triggers the pain again. It's awful and terrifying and there's literally nothing I can do except try and survive until it subsides (which it generally does after 24hrs).

THIS IS NOT NORMAL, RIGHT??

Background: Since having DS2 (2yo) my periods have been agony, and they're getting worse. I had a CS and bf-d for 14 months, then my periods began again. I expected them to be painful, as they generally were before DC and also were bad after DD1, but they gradually got better (manageable anyway). This is getting worse.

I've been to the GP several times and first they tried the pill (disaster, as I always react badly to it... long story), a coil (another disaster... long story) and now Transexamic Acid (sp?) which does the square root of f-all!

Seriously considering a hysterectomy, can you just ask for one?!

HELP ME, PLEASE!!!

tummymumsie could you please DM me the brand of yours? I'd like a better flavour one for days when I don't have a smoothie!

tummymumsie · 21/06/2019 19:13

@oreosoreosoreos I'm not sure how to do that Blush

A little update for you, in case anyone is interested/ or suffering like me!...

Saw Gynae today to have coil (mirena) fitted. She was v experienced and v knowledgable about hormones etc (helped that she's female too I think - she gets it!).

She said she suspected adenomyosis (sp?) which apparently wouldn't have shown up during lap. seems logical to me as potentially caused by CS (which is when pain really started to kick in).

Fingers crossed this works to at least suppress some of the pain (or get rid of AF altogether!). She said she had 'tricks up her sleeve' if I get the shooting pains in my leg again. And also more tweaking of hormones if needed before deciding on hysterectomy. I suspect she thought the lap was a bit unnecessary.

I'm feeling so tired and sore (again) in my tummy and down below. Crampy/ yuk/ pain and still not 100% since lap. V battered & bruised. SadSadSad

PS. Nearly passed out after coil fitting procedure! Blush think my bod has had enough!

Glad you've made some progress and that you've at least found a Dr who seems to understand your issues, fingers crossed the coil works for you!

I can't work out how to DM either Blush - might be it can't be done on the app?

Would you mind mentioning the brand on here?

Hi all. Hope @tummymumsie you are recovering.
Not great news my end. Saw the consultant again as my pain and cramping is worse than before the lap. He said the scarring is so bad in my pelvic area that he wouldn't want to take the risk of Bowel damage with another operation, so hysterectomy is out for now and that at this point the only option is Zoladex. I reluctantly agreed but I'm not sure I can go through with it.

ImTheCaddy · 01/07/2019 20:46

Oh and I'm still not 100% since the lap, but they did say it was a pretty major procedure in the end.

Hope the mirena helps you. I have one and it didn't I'm afraid.

tummymumsie · 03/07/2019 07:40

@ImTheCaddy you poor poor thing. (What is Zoladex?) My greatest sympathies, I know how awful that pain is and how much you must dread it.

The Gynae I saw last was v good at jiggling hormones to help suppress ovulation and balance mood/etc. She said there were other layers you can add AS WELL as the mirena to help stop the cycle. Don't know if this is worth exploring? But if it's all scar-related I just don't know.

I am still not 100% after the lap either. My IBS has flared up (not surprising as I am v stressed), my abdo really aches by the end of the day, and if I sit in a hard chair Don't think they realise how long it takes to recover. In most of the lit it's like "after a week you'll be back to your usual activities" and "you will be home the same day" all v misleading I think.

Let's keep talking Thanks

@oreosoreosoreos it's yourzooki
