Nipple inverted now wasn't before

My right nipple is inverted when it wasn't before. Both nipples invert in the cold but coax out in the warm, I noticed when going for a shower that my right now doesn't come back out. Last night I smelled what I thought was baby vomit and realised it was discharge from the nipple, very small amount. It is red if I try to force it out but not angry looking.
Ds is one so I suppose this could be a pregnancy or post breastfeeding change but Dr Google also suggests cancer as it always does.
Anyone any experience of this, should I worry. I'm in Ireland so I have to pay 65 euro for doc and I don't want to waste it on looking foolish.

Definitely something you should see a doctor about, no matter what the cost.

GP, definitely.

Go to the doctor. Ask about Paget's disease. Try not to google too much. Easier said than done. Also be forceful about getting more investigation if you are not happy with the GP's response.

My fil died of cancer in December so I feel like even this small worry would be too much for dh at the moment so I've no one to talk to about it, thanks all

Definitely go to doctor. I hate that it’s so expensive to see a doctor in Ireland - am Irish too but live in uk now.

It’s always better to get seen earlier. I had treatment for breast cancer and although it was scary I am so grateful it was caught. Mine was found on a routine mammogram. A lumpectomy and three weeks of radiation and I was done.

Yours probably isn’t cancer but best to get checked.

Both the inverted nipple and the discharge warrant a trip to the doctor ASAP.

Hopefully it's nothing sinister OP but there is nothing to be gained by delaying getting it checked out.

Yes statistically unlikely to be anything serious but you have to rule out anything more sinister. GP appointment some time next week.

Go to the doctor ASAP. They will refer you to one of the centres of excellence. St. James, Vincent's etc. The initial €65 is all you will have to pay to the doctor and if necessary you will be referred on. Once you are referred the standard of care is excellent and speedy. I've been in a similar position and can not fault the care I received. Try not to worry, there has been very good investment in breast care services in Ireland over the last few years.

@inisfree, thanks can I ask what hospital you ended up in

Vincent's under the public system even though I had health insurance. my consultant said it was better to go with the public system as there was as much if not more investment in the public service. I got absolutely brilliant care so be reassured once you get checked out by the doctor and if referred you will be looked after. I'm still in the system as I had a lumpectomy for a benign tumour and still going back for regular checks and thankfully being wonderfully cared for.

It took me a while to bother the doctor but she's put me into the public system as the wait is less than two weeks, she gave me the choice and that sounds reasonable I was expecting months with the way they talk about the lists. She said they're good about breast cancer. So I'm to wait for my letter.
I can't tell anyone at the moment as everyone close to me has recently lost people to cancer and I just can't add unnecessary worry to their lives. I'm trying not to get ahead of myself and worry but would like to have someone to wait with me

That's reassuring you'll get seen so quickly. The odds are you'll be fine, but yes, it is a worry while you're waiting. Do you have anyone to go with you, a mate or someone outside the immediate family?

Glad you are in the system. It's hard to say your worries out loud but might be nice to have someone with you.

I can't think of anyone at the moment but there could be someone, I haven't told dh as his father died just before Christmas from throat cancer , I think I'll tell him but close to the day to minimise brooding time

If it helps, I have had similar (still have). I had a mammogram and ultrasound and it was nothing to worry about. Something to do with a milk duct in my case (Google tells me mammary duct ectasia). So not necessarily a problem.

@inisfree how long did it take for you to get an appointment I haven't heard anything yet, though gp said I'd be seen within two weeks and it's a week gone already. Thinking of asking her about going private...

I was going to go private but from my experience public was as fast and as good. I was called at end of two weeks.

Just thought I'd update I got seen after five week wait and doc is pretty confident it's duct ectasia even though I'm too young and a non smoker. I think it's harmless enough, just going to get an ultrasound to confirm. I'm relieved, glad I went so I can stop worrying.
I've been putting off ttc again until I knew so I'll get on that, not sure I can breastfeed on that side though my googling has been inconclusive as it mainly affects menopausal women.
