Endometriosis, weight loss and bleeding

I have recently been told that I probably have endo (have not had laparoscopy yet, but all other causes have been ruled out).
I want to lose some weight but last time I lost any weight I bled for 3 months! I'm wondering if this may have been related to endo, as oestrogen is stored in fat cells could losing fat have caused endo symptoms to worsen?

Do you normally have a regular cycle?

Ftumch · 10/01/2019 09:26

Thanks for replying. Semi regular, varies from 3 to 6 weeks at times. The cycle previous to that episode I had bled for 3 weeks. I was on the pill (had been for about a year) at the time. I came off afterwards as docs said that they couldn't find anything wrong after bloods and ultrasound, so try coming off the pill. I did and I haven't had a really long bleed since, I also haven't tried to lose weight in that time.

If you have (undiagnosed) PCOS you can find your cycle goes a bit more regular when you lose weight. This might mean an initial increase in bleeding (possibly from a follicular cyst which is common in PCOS).

Maybe look at losing weight slowly and taking some supplements to help regulate your hormones: inositol or spiruline maybe, or inofolic is quite good.

Thanks, I think said she ruled out pcos though. I'll look into those supplements, whatever's going on my hormones are definitely going wild Confused
