HRT patches side effects - insomnia?

Hi Ladies,
I am 46 and peri-menapausal. I tarted HRT patches (2 weeks estrogen, 2 weeks combined) 3 weeks ago. I was never a good sleeper but now, I am badly suffering from insomnia. I am very surprised as I thought HRT was supposed to help with insomnia and not make it worse.
Can this be just a side effect that I should ride out? What about the other side effects such as bloating? Do they go away on their own?
I need real-life experiences please. The packaging leaflet doesn't help.
Thank you in advance.

I’ve been using HRT patches for a couple of years but I haven’t had insomnia. I’m going back to the HRT clinic though because the night sweats are getting increasingly worse again, despite open bedroom window and summer weight duvet.

Thanks for your replies ladies. Have you had any other side effects at the beginning which faded away in time?

Just the positives! Immediate relief from being mumzilla and hot flashes which have returned.
