Confused...

Bit of background - I've been on the pill for 8 years and the reason I went on it was to stop my periods as they were so bad (i'm talking heavy bleeding to the point of it soaking sofas etc).

Never had a period since. Get the occasional cramp though.

So my question is -

Why did I wake up, have my morning pee and there was LOADS of brown blood!? It has been stop starting all day... Kind of like the end of a period? I'm so confused as I have never had this before.

I know google is the devil when it comes to symptom checker, but it all says pregnant/implantation bleeding... Can I possibly be?

It also says it can be an imbalance "down there"... Mu partner did accidentally use shower gel on me there (he got carried away doing my lower back Blush) so could the fragranced shower gel have messed my Ph balance up?

I'm so panicking about these things! Sad

Just realised how many horrendous typos there are...

Brown blood is "old" blood. I can understand why you were given a Mirena but its only treated the symptoms and not the underlying cause that still remains. Has anyone ever bothered to work out why your periods were this heavy at all; did no-one ever check to see if you had fibroids for instance?.

I would make a GP appointment and ask if you can have a gynae referral.

This has nothing whatsoever to do with his use of the shower gel or Ph balance. Stay away from Dr Google as well.

Is it definitely vaginal blood? Nor from your anus?

I can understand why you were given a Mirena

Confused

OP said she was given the Pill.

There is no way that shower gel or anything like that can upset your uterus to the extent you will bleed.

It's quite unusual for the Pill to stop periods altogether- more usual for them to be lighter. which one are you using?

The most obvious answer is that your pill has not been absorbed - have you had a tummy upset or mucked up the time you take it? And you are having a period now.

You need to go and see your GP and discuss all of this. Maybe the pill dose is too low now for you ( a lot of weight gain can affect it) or maybe there are other reasons.

I meant to write the word "pill" rather than "mirena". However, its only treated the symptoms and not the underlying cause. Heavy bleeding is not normal and should be investigated properly.

Just to answer a few questions-

No, it was never investigated, the intense pain I had with it was never investigated either... My cramps used to be so bad that I couldn't even walk!

I am on a pill called Cerazette. I regularly have tummy upsets due to my IBS, so that would make sense.

I have woken up today and there is nothing. Nada.

So all a bit strange. I'm thinking where I don't have periods, it could have just been a "flush out" of old blood?

Thank you for all your replies, my mind is definitely more at ease now! I always tell myself to stay away from Google, I never learn Hmm
