Thrush - easing symptoms

CarlGrimesMissingEye · 18/12/2018 06:20

I am On holiday and now suffering with a bout of very unpleasant thrush. I felt it start the morning we travelled so grabbed a canesten duo in the boots at the airport. But I'm 2 days in and still very itchy and uncomfortable. I know it can take time, not my first rodeo, but does anyone have any ideas about what I can do in the arse end of Finland to ease the symptoms in the immediate term.

I think I also need to look at prevention for future as this is the second serious bout in the last 12 months. If anyone has knowledge there that'd be good.

Depending on your situation, sitting in a lukewarm bath with some salt in it has been recommended by the gp, if you can hot wash or iron your underwear so you don't reinfect, a barrier of vaseline to ease the immediate pain/discomfort, looser, softer clothing. There's always good, old yoghurt.

Thanks @quirkychick

Unfortunately there's no bath but I've gently washed in the shower (with no soap!)

I do have a washing machine. I'll run everything on a wash today and do have an iron in the lodge too.

It's just so uncomfortable 😭

I think I also have Vaseline packed somewhere.

Pop a garlic clove up your vagina overnight.
Wear a pad, and take it out in the morning.

Stop eating sugar (I always get issues when I've been eating too much sugar).

It's horrible - good luck.

My sugar intake has been horrible on the run up to Christmas. Operation sugar reduction can start today.

Never heard about the garlic thing. Better go to the supermarket!

The only thing that worked instantly for me was a few drops of tee tree oil on a tampon and inserted. Hope you get relief soon
