9 day period

As title says, I've been bleeding for 9 days!
It's been relatively heavy, soaking through super tampon in 2/3 hrs
Bad cramps and also started at least a week early!

I'm ringing for a drs appointment tomorrow.

Just wondering if anyone had any ideas?

Take Ibuprofen now, 2 tabs every 4 hours. That will slow the bleeding.

If you can get to a chemist, ask for Tranexamic acid tablets which will help (don't use those and Ibuprofen together though.)

It is likely to be a hormone imbalance, or maybe a fibroid.

How old are you?

thelaststraw123 · 05/12/2018 17:52

31, periods have been regular for god knows how long. 9 days so far and is still bright red and cramps are extremely painful

What she said and don't worry just yet ^ I don't think doc would do much until it's gone on a bit longer though it's still worth a phone call/ tip.to chemist if it's unusual for you. Mine had to go for a month before anything was done X

merryginmas a month?? Don't think I can cope that long. Cramps seem to be getting worse as days go on Confused

Try the steps above, mefanamic acid can also help with pains and bleeding .

I'm at 4 months on so far, much lighter than it was as I've had a lot.of different treatments but I was bleeding right through mooncup/ clothes. That having been said mine's a separate issue and I'm having a hysterectomy next week.

Try alternating painkillers for cramps. Is it showing any signs of slowing? I'm not sure they would class it as anything more than a bad period at this point but it's worth mentioning in case it happens again/ doesn't stop in the next few days.

No doesn't seem to be slowing at all, it's slowly got a tiny bit lighter but not by much

Thanks for the advice though! I'll talk to pharmacist tomorrow

I'd really recommend tranexamic acid and mefanamic acid or ibuprofen. I've taken them for 10+ years for heavy periods. Worth letting doc know as it's unusual for you. It's good that it's getting lighter.

I’ve had this - always regular periods and then suddenly got another a week early and on day 6 no sign of stopping.
Went the doctors today and got to go for a scan.

Did you re- do the rest?
