Referral for thickening above Areola

Trying not to shit myself, but am I right I'm thinking that if you're referred to be seen within two weeks, the doctor suspects cancer? Mentioned a small bump above my Areola that I have been telling myself is just the 'seam' during a smear test today.

I lost my mum to cancer a couple of years ago (not breast) and my mind is racing, having two young children.

I was referred a week ago for a lump in my breast. I still have to wait until next Tuesday afternoon, so I understand how you will be feeling. I haven't been able to switch off because all I can think of is my four year old son, and the worst case scenarios.
What I will say is venting on here has been such a relief and the support I have felt over the last week I appreciate more than anything right now.
I am thinking of you xx

The standard wait time for the breast clinic is 2 weeks or less for non-urgent cases anyway, so don't worry that they've referred you to be seen and you're getting seen quickly. It also depends on your age, if you're over 30 you get referred as urgent anyway (at least thats how it works where I live).

I found a hard area that felt like a lump in the side of my breast so I went to the GP and was seen at the breast clinic about a week and a half afterwards. The "lump" both me and the GP felt turned out to be just thick tissue and basically my breasts are just naturally lumpy and awful (oh the joys!)

I hope it all goes well for you and it's nothing sinister, good luck Flowers
