Hi all..
I had a routine smear in August 2017, I think it was my third or fourth. Always been normal result but this was the first time they tested for HPV which came back positive for a high risk strain, but no abnormal cells. I was told to repeat the smear in one year rather than three. However, I then became pregnant so could not have the smear done at the one year point. Had baby last month and have been told to wait three months before booking a smear, so that would be January.
I'm booked in to have a Mirena coil fitted in December but I have read the hormonal contraception can interfere with the results of a smear so I'm just wondering whether I need to postpone coil fitting until after the smear? Obviously I want to get the most accurate result!
Anyone have any ideas/experience?
