Diastasis recti pictures

So... Don't know where to begin really.

I'm a mom of two, 4&2. Had diastasis recti since the first one but had no clue till I was pregnant with my last dd. I always thought I suffered from severe bloating lol. After the birth of my last one I was offered physio, went from 6 fingers to 2 and I've been stuck on 2 fingers ever since.
I'm a size 12 everywhere but the midsection. I'm 32, 5'5 and weigh 70kg.
This really bothers me as it's near impossible to hide it. Physically I'm OK, apart from constipation. What really bothers me is the sight of it. I HATE looking in the mirror. I'm scared of going to my doctor and asking for surgery because the NHS don't deal with these sort of surgeries. And when I look at these exercise videos it's mostly skinny girls with little poaches, no video of someone as big as me who's been successful in closing the gap.
Is there someone who is big like me or bigger and have managed to defeat this thing?

Have a look at restore your core on Facebook and YouTube she's a relatively normal person

Ah, bless you. I understand how it is. I got stuck at 2cm as well. The physio said that, in her opinion (going by the look and feel of my abdomen) that the connective tissues are probably damaged/torn as well as the muscles being separated, and so 2cm is most likely as good as it gets for me. I started a Pilates class with a sympathetic teacher who really understands what I should and should not do with DR, so I’d recommend that.

My feeling is you probably are still suffering from bad bloating and that’s why your tummy is protruding as much as it is. Constipation is a big problem for me too, so my hunch is that might be more at fault than your DR. Sometimes I don’t realise how constipated I’ve been until it suddenly clears and my tummy is loads flatter, if you see what I mean Blush

Oh bless you, I've been there Thanks I was very similar to you two years ago. Had had 2 big babies 22 months apart, both by CS, 6 finger gap. I eventually signed up for the MuTu exercise programme which is completely online. The exercises are a combination of the ones the physio leaflet told me to do when I left hospital after giving birth, which of course I promptly lost and never did, and other ones that crucially will not make the diastasis worse (like sit ups! Don't do them!) Signing up for MuTu made me do the exercises regularly (10 mins a day at home to start, no special equipment, you don't even need to wear workout clothes).

I also lost 5kg through diet and portion size, so my BMI was at 24 (so more within normal range, I was right at the top end of normal before).

Now I have an overhang of skin and fat over the CS scar still, but the belly is more even and I no longer look pregnant. In clothes I look ok, maybe a bit thick round the middle compared to how I used to. High waisted jeans help!

It's so much better than it was bit of course it's always a work in progress...I try to say over and over again into the mirror that my body grew two human beings on days when it really gets me down!

X posted with you Haworthia and bless you too WinkThanks I also get bloating from bread now, never used to!!

Haworthia · 21/11/2018 22:38

Bread is my enemy! Sad, because I love it, but as soon as I eat some my bloating goes way up. I try not to eat it, but sometimes I just need some sliced white with peanut butter Grin

Noname17 · 21/11/2018 22:49

I'm currently tackling my constipation problem. I've thought about bloating but I don't really eat a lot and I barely touch bread, so it's been tricky to figure what makes me bloated because sometimes I'll just wake up bloated and the stomach would be bigger than this and go really hard.
How much is MuTu?
I've also seen these sachets for bloating and weight loss that you take for a week and you see improvements. I've seen good reviews but mostly for weight loss, not interested in that just the bloating bit.
Just looking at every option and angle to at least have a normal looking belly.

Another vote for MuTu ( mummy tummy) it’s not a lot, there’s loads you can watch before signing up. Her trailer about do you feel like your head & body are detached & it seems like it’s not part of you made me cry because that’s how I felt about myself. The lady herself had a DR. Also consider your posture- rib thrusting? Lots of us keep the pregnancy tilted pelvis which makes us all off balance & belly stick out more, google Katy Bowman - there’s a you tube clip about heels to wall & stand back- does your bra strap touch the wall or are you leaning forward- I do still & work on it. Down from 6 to 2 fingers - good luck

@Noname Mutu usually has a Black Friday sale so worth checking the website or their social media tomorrow. Good luck
