Cotton bud as a discharge after colposcopy?

Hi All,

Had a colposcopy last Thursday with a biopsy. She applied antiseptic liquid with a cotton bud at the end and I thought she took the cotton bud out but it came out today in the morning. Is it normal for doctors to leave a cotton bud with application liquid inside of vagina?

I’m very scared and confused, please help.

I would say no, not normal to leave things inside your vagina. Or any bodily orifice for that matter

I had a colposcopy with biopsy in the summer and because I didn't stop bleeding very quickly the doctor applied a guaze type material to my cervix and said that would come out on its own, which it did a few days later. Could that be the case with you? Did they mention anything to you about bleeding etc?

It doesn’t sound normal no, I’d ring the hospital/clinic where you had it done they should count all instruments used to prevent things like this happening.
