Could I have it?
I have heavy periods, shooting leg and arm pains, headaches, pain during sex and bleeding during sex. Been to the doctors and been put on the pill and this is supposed to help but I’m still feeling all of this so not to sure if it is endometriosis

Endometriosis cannot be ruled out at all here as a cause. Even the pill in some cases does not always alleviate the symptoms associated with it.

Deep pain during sex is another indicator of endometriosis being present. I would return to the GP and talk about having a referral to a gynaecologist. In the meantime I would keep a daily pain and symptom diary if you do not already do this.

I used to get the shooting leg pains as well, in my case that was due to endometriosis aggravating the sciatic nerve. It can also cause heaviness of bleeding, another endo symptom that I had along with brown blood and stringy bits.

Do not be fobbed off; something is causing this to arise and it is certainly in your interests to find out what it is.

I’ve been to the gynaecologist and they said it could be endometriosis but I haven’t had any tests done to say it is and nobody has told me the symptoms so I wasn’t sure if these were any of these symptoms. Thank you I will be going back just to be sure 😅

The only ‘test’ that can be done is a laparoscopy really.

With regards to symptoms it’s worth noting that everyone presents differently. I had stage 4 endo but only had one or two typical symptoms.

It’s no surprise that it takes on average 7years to be diagnosed! Keep pushing, keep a record of everyone you see and everything they say, and don’t be afraid to ask for a 3rd/4th/100th opinion.

Plate is correct re the laparoscopy; this is the usual way it is diagnosed.
Tests like internal ultrasound scans do not detect it.

Do go back to the GP and let us know how you get on.
