First period after baby

I had a baby November 2017 and my period returned on Saturday - so almost a year after birth. Started normally - spotting and a bit of tummy ache. Sunday and Monday I have had the heaviest flow I’ve ever experienced. Bleeding through tampons, pads and clothes within 30-40 mins. Not much pain.

Then last night (Monday evening) the pain was so terrible but not like usual period pain. Was several sudden very localised pain which stopped me in my tracks and made me cry. Putting tampons in and out was painful and my whole abdomen felt sore and swollen. Today my tummy still feels sore but not as bad and the flow has completely stopped out of the blue.

Before having my baby I suffered with PCOS so I never had regular cycles but typically they were a constant aching pain but not heavy. Obviously after so long I expected it to be different but this feels wrong. Now I feel ok as long as I’m still. If I move it hurts in a very specific place on the left side of my tummy.

Any thoughts anyone?

How are you now? Has it stopped? Sorry I can't offer any advice or suggestions but was interested reading your post that it took a year for your period to return! I'm 3 months post pregnancy and still waiting for mine to return!

I hope you are better now 😊

Thanks for the reply. It was horrendous and I’m gutted that I seem to be coming on again... will see if it’s as bad this time. I am still breastfeeding which is why I think it took so long
