I went to docs last night and she said I have head lice! I've checked the kids and can't see any and no itching from them. My head has been itchy and gotten worse with scabs for about 3 months now. When my partner checked all he could see was white bits of skin from where I'd itched and said he thinks she got mistaken for head lice? Nevertheless I've done the head lice shampoo and OH combed through and found nothing. Although I do wonder if he knows what he's is looking for? Does anyone know what this could be as can't get back into docs2 now :( it itches like a mad, sores and scabs and weeps and have lumps around hairline on neck and back of ears. I get married on Saturday!!!

Try Neutrogena shampoo for sensitive scalps, it's very effective. If you have head lice they are hard to miss you you comb effectively.

Do you dye your hair? looks like mine when I have a reaction to dye, particularly the back of ear lumps. Betnovate scalp application helped clear it up, not sure if you need a prescription for that though.

Having just been through headlice, twice, in this house, I think it's unlikely. You would have found something in the comb if they are bad enough to be causing that.

When you use the nit comb, wipe off the excess shampoo on to a tissue as you go along. The lice will be very clear, some as small black specks, some as small insects. The eggs are less obvious but should be visible in dark hair as white specks that stick to the hair (unlike dry skin which brushes away easily).

Use a treatment that contains dimethicone. Not lyclear, it's crap.

I have scalp psoriasis and it looks and sounds similar. It took my doctors 18 months to send me to a skin specialist for diagnosis.

When mine is particularly bad I have to use a medicated shampoo that I get on prescription, Dovabet. Other than that there isn't a lot I can use. A 1% Hydrocortisone cream could help. You can get this over the counter at most chemist's.

Your doctor wants a slap! I get this, it is psoriasis, I can't seem to ever budge it fully, unfortunately nizoral etc aggravate me even more. Capasal got rid of the scabs but I can't use it regularly. For the itching your doc can prescribe betnovate, but it can't be used on broken skin

Omg. I spent £30 on lyeclear last night and spent 2 hours trying to sort my hair out :( hair dye stings my hair but not had done in 3 months?? Is psoriasis really itchy and cause little bumps too? Literally sitting here and more have come out on back of my neck. I have hydrocortisone cream at home as get occasional eczema on arms. So I'll put that on tonight and see if it helps. She saw a white egg she said and said you can crack them but when she tried it didn't and my oh said there were loads but looked likes dandruff and nothing moved in my hair and no black lice. After the treatment and washing my hair and before he combed it, he said all the white bits were gone??

I get this when stressed.
In fact my head is like it now as my wedding is this coming week too.

I just have to do my best not to itch it and when I'm more relaxed it eventually goes away

thighofrelief · 20/11/2018 00:13

My DS gets sebboraic dermatitis when stressed and gets dandrazol from the dr.

Claireshh · 20/11/2018 00:41

I get this. I don’t have bits! What works for me is a daily antihistamine for a few days. Sounds weird but give it a go. My scalp flares with stress or if I use a hair product that irritates my scalp,

MaitlandGirl · 20/11/2018 00:57

Try the ginger shampoo from the Body Shop. I’ve got awful scalp psoriasis that bleeds and scans and is constantly itchy and the ginger shampoo calms it right down.
