Endometriosis

I am having a laparoscopy soon for possible endometriosis
I am in two minds whether it is from my symptoms but some of the symptoms correspond. One issue that bothers me is when I am on my period the blood is very brown but it's also very chunky and looks almost like pieces of plastic....anyone else have anything like this ?

The "brown" blood you see is old blood and what you describe also was very similar to what I experienced. I was eventually diagnosed with endometriosis.

You must ensure that they DO NOT talk to you about the lap's findings whilst you are in the recovery room because this is poor practice. You should ideally have an appointment a week or so post op to discuss the findings.

Did you have awful pain in your lower pelvis/back which got excruciating during your period?

Yes, and particularly in my pelvis and top of legs (along the sciatic nerves).

I had lap done on 19th sept for excruciating period pains, back pain deep pelvic pain etc. Diagnosed with stage 4 bowel endo which they told me as soon as I woke up in recovery. My 6 week follow up appointment to discuss the findings is 27th DECEMBER. 17 weeks after lap. Waiting to hear back from consultant private secretary and will pay to be seen quicker. Good luck x

What was your bleeding like mol?

@ItsAndTarts usually, very dark and thick almost black to start for a day/day and a half. Then goes to very very fresh red and lots of it with lots of clots usually for 2 days. Then much lighter and then brown. Not very plastic looking I wouldn't say. Hope this helps x

ItsAndTarts · 07/11/2018 19:21

Mine is mainly black the whole time

Just seen your thread. I'm waiting for my lap too for the same reason. I didn't know the dark old blood could be a connection to endo. My periods are mainly dark and clotty with only a day or so of red blood.
Any idea of a date for your op?
I'm fed up of being in pain.
Do you have pain even when it isn't your period? I have random attacks of pain throughout the month.
