The Pull-out method - does it work? Would you use it?

My personal experience is I used it for 2 and a half years, the one time he didn't pull out is when I got pregnant! Doctors say the pull-out/withdrawal method is 96% effective, so for every 100 people that use it 4 will get pregnant. Condoms are 98% effective, so out of 100 only 2 will get pregnant. I honestly don't know why it gets so much hate!

We used it in our marriage and only got pregnant when we wanted too. So it worked for us. After 3 children and a miscarriage I was found to be very anemic and was advised to go on the pill for that reason, but that was in my 40s and we married at 27.

It must be the least romantic way to have sex ever. Just get some proper contraception.

@emmagreen481

The bit of your sex education that is missing is that the fluids men produce before the ejaculate contains sperm too. So they don't have to come to release sperm.

The other thing is that each couple has their own 'fertility' scale. Couples may be semi or partly infertile and get away with all kinds of things that very fertile couples wouldn't.

A man with a low sperm count and a woman who is semi fertile, who doesn't ovulate often, who maybe has slightly blocked tubes or any other manner of issues, may get away with this, but other couples wouldn't.

Yuck, all sounds a bit porny to me. What does he do, come all over your stomach instead?

@Ginger1982

Why are you okay with jizz in your foof, but not with jizz on your skin?

PinkHeart5914 · 03/11/2018 11:49

Doctors say the pull-out/withdrawal method is 96% effective Oh come one what doctor told you this rubbish? None did unless they printed off the qualifications from the internet

Look if a cock goes in to you with no condom and your not using any contraception you can get pregnant an it’s NOT, I repeat NOT 96% effective to pull out.

Seriously this stuff is taught is schools yet an adult is on mumsnet asking, I dispear really I do 🙄

We used it successfully for about four years. The result of the time it was unsuccessful is now 11 yo and sitting in the living room watching a film.Grin

TBF we both knew it was not a fulproof method and we were actually delighted at our accident. After I had DD, we decided we definitely didn’t want more children and DP had the snip, which is much more reliable. Grin
