Worried about weird period

My cycles are 28 days give or take a day and always have been. I will get brown spotting the day before my full flow and then I will get a medium flow that lasts between 24-48 hours then turns into brown spotting again.

This month I was 5 days late. From my period due date I had cramping on and off every day. About 3 days after, I started getting very light watery brown cm but not my usual amount, it was barely noticeable and wasn’t constant. 90% of the time I went for a wee, there was nothing on the toilet paper when I wiped when normally my brown spotting is very noticeable. After 5 days, with no warning, I started bleeding. I put my mooncup in. Took it out after about 1-2 hours just to check it and it was just clots. To me it looked like one large one that had started breaking up. There was only the tiniest bit of liquid blood. I do get small clots sometimes but they’re accompanied by a good lot of proper blood so much so that sometimes I don’t even notice them in there.

I put my mooncup back in and left it in for the rest of the day but when I took it out (expecting to see it fairly full) there was only a couple of drops of blood in it. I then left my mooncup out and haven’t had any bleeding since, not even brown spotting.

I know that periods do weird stuff sometimes but does this sound normal? I’ve never been late for a period before (apart from when I’ve been pregnant), I’ve never cramped for days before it’s showed up, I normally only ever get cramps the day of, and I’ve never had a period that has been just one big clot with no more bleeding or even spotting to follow. I’m not using any contraception and haven’t been on any for two years so I know it’s not that that’s to blame.

I don’t know whether it’s worth mentioning to my doctor or if they’ll just fob me off?

You could be pregnant. Have you tested?

You don't say what age you are?
Strange things start happening after 35

I've just had loads of scans and tests after some similarly weird occurrences and all was normal. I'm just getting old!
