Hi all, im considering starting the mini pill for contraception, I am nearly 51 and postmenopausal but obviously you can still get preggers. I haven't had a period since January and before that June.

my question is if you are on it do you get any symptoms, weight gain, low libido, depression or anything else?

thanks in advance

You are only post menopausal when you have not had a period for 12 months- you could have one in the next 2-3 months.

At the moment you are not classed, technically, as post meno.

When you have reached January 2019 and no period has appeared, you can consider yourself infertile and do not need contraception.

The rule for ditching contraception is women over 50, 12 months without a period, women under 50, 2 years without a period.
