Vaginal stitches

I gave birth on Monday and managed somehow to tear upwards. They had to stitch through my urethra and clitoris. It was horrible and they told me it would be healed in a couple of days as it's not a big tear. It's not healed and now I have a weird sensation every time I sit down that something is going to burst. It's very painful. I've had a look with a handheld mirror and can't actually see anything... has anyone got any experience of tearing upwards? If so, was it awful going through the healing process? It hurts to pee, to sit etc and actually seems to be getting worse... :(

I didn't tear the same way but I did tear. It took me two weeks and I got my midwife to look as I was also in a lot of pain no matter what position.

For me it got worse then better.

Try filling a jug with warm water and pouring over you when you go the toilet. It might lessen the stinging.

Someone also suggested a child's rubber ring to sit on but this was well after I'd healed so that may help also.

It does get better.

I had this.

I was unfortunate enough to tear front and back. The perineal stitches felt healed within a couple of weeks but the ones in front took a couple of months.

They felt like they got worse before they got better and I was uncomfortable for quite a long time.

It did all heal up fine eventually though and is fine now

I didn't even know you could tear upwards! Until it happened... :(

Neither did I despite furious googling when I was pregnant because I was shit scared of tearing.

There seems to be very little literature out there on it, it's all perineal tears. They don't hurt nearly as much!

It's still very early days though if you only gave birth on Monday. If you're worried about it ask your midwife to take a look at them to make sure it's all healing properly.

I did and it was very reassuring. She assured me that despite it feeling like my stitches would burst that they were in fact very expertly done and healing well.

It feels loads better about ten days later when they finally dissolve and stop pulling so much
