I got my copper coil fitted yesterday and I'm not going to lie the pain of the GP measuring me and putting the coil in was atleast 8/10 was extremely painful. My blood pressure dropped to 60/40 so it was very low I felt very faint. The DR kept me in for an hour or so after to observe but I was sent home when my blood pressure picked up. The pains I experienced last night where unbearable I was screaming in pain I nearly felt like I was having contractions every 5 minutes couldn't sit in one place I ended up down in A&E I waited for 6 HOURS to even be seen by a doctor before I had enough the pain was too much to sit there any longer so I left and came home I still have bad pains this morning but I'm just wondering has anyone ever had the same experience? I'm really considering having it removed as I can't go through them pains every month if I get my period. I'm bleeding now aswell but it's small clots of blood sorry to be graphic lol but I'm really trying to figure out here is it worth this for however long I had to take off work the pain was that bad and will I experience this pain every time I'm due my period. Anyone that could give me advice it would be great, thanks!!

I had a copper coil fitted in my mid 40s. (I'd had 2 vaginal births but still found it painful.)
I didn't have the pains you had- which sound awful- but I did bleed for weeks. I bled after insertion, just lightly, I then bled with a normal period and I then bled lightly for another week or so. In the end I went to my FPA clinic and they said it had half fallen out. i had it removed.

Update. I had the coil removed about an hour ago rang my GP and they took me in straight away and got it removed. Feel much better already
