My body is confused

I'm 37 and I've been on the pill since I was 16 apart from two breaks to have my children. I have always been very lucky with my cycle. I can not only tell you what day my period will start but what hour, and I never have PMS or period pains. Until now!

Over the last year I have developed significant pains, I sometimes miss periods altogether (definitely not pregnant) and things seem to be completely haywire.

This morning I have taken a pregnancy test as yet another period has failed to show up. I've been to the doctor a couple of times but they have no idea what the cause could be as nothing has changed, and unless I miss three periods on the trot they won't investigate.

Has anyone else been through this? Is it my age, am I looking at early menopause, or am I just a bit broken?

Anyone?

Wouldn't be that early for perimenopause.

LouisaJF · 09/10/2018 19:00

I realise that, but something odd is going on and wondered if anyone could shed any light or had been through something similar?

No matter how regular consistent you were in past, things can change. Not for bad reasons, we just aren't meant to be the same forever.

LouisaJF · 10/10/2018 13:16

I could it not being consistent, but the ramping up of the pain and the fact that they just disappear altogether some months seems odd.

What was your mum's menopause like? When did she start changing? I think your experience can be v v similar to the other women in your family.

WhatsGoingOnEh · 10/10/2018 14:16

And - you're still on the pill now?

LouisaJF · 10/10/2018 22:02

I'm still on the pill, the doctor wasn't sure it was the fault of the pill and was reticent to take me off it.

I don't have any contact with my mum so I can't ask her, but I don't remember anything dramatic.

I'm in a similar situation. 39, one baby who is two. For the last year since my periods came back I'm having one every 2 weeks. I'm back on my original pill, dr said to give it 6 months and see if they calm down. Huge shock from being on the pill since 14 and no periods!

We change, hormones change. It's shit.
