Smear test when due on?

Not always 100% regular so can't be sure I will come on my period that day. However just realised I have my smear booked for Monday and I due on that day. If I don't come on will it be ok to do?
In the past I have heard it's best to do in the middle of your cycle I just never thought when booking it.

I think I remember going post period but it being a bit too bloody still to do. Is it this Monday? If you haven't come on it might be ok although I think even a small bit of blood can be an issue. I suppose if it's tomorrow you might as well go and see if they can do it.

A nurse once told me that you get the most accurate results mid cycle but as long as you not bleeding you'll be fine

I was told recently by the gp that they’ve changed the way the test is done now and a small amount of blood doesn’t matter like it used to. I was having a LOT of spitting due to mini pill so asked specifically about this.
