Hysterectomy waiting lists ...I’m interested to know if mine is unusual?

Need a full hysterectomy due to extreme bleeding due to massive fibroid. Bleeding is really bad and has gone on for years, without my GP realising it should be investigated. So I feel ill. Have spent over a year when I can’t leave the house, and I spend £20 a month on sanitary protection! Bad!

I need to have a full hysterectomy but the waiting time is over a year locally. This seems absolutely ridiculous. I can’t work as I do a physical job, have caring responsibility for two elderly parents living at distance, plus a teenager.

I’d be interested to know if anyone else has experienced or is experiencing these long waits? Is this true all over the country?

It appears gynaecological services where I live are in crisis. And it’s an issue women should be aware of I feel.

😫

I was on the waiting list for just over 4 months I'm in Glasgow but the consultant who agreed has a very short waiting list. Also had to fight with my doctor for over a year to get refered to gyny as she didn't want to refer me.
