Anaemia from heavy period

Oh the joys - period this month has been horrific - flooded for 8 days with big clots. Feeling very tired and energy less - managed to speak to the pharmacist at the surgery (no appointments with the doctor). She said I was probably anaemic. Will this get better on its own now the flooding has stopped?

I tricycle BCP so won't have another period for another two months - wondering whether I need to go to the docs now 🤔

Hi, you definitely need to see a doctor, flooding with clots for 8 days is not normal and you shouldn’t put up with it, you will need high dose iron if you have anemia and investigations to find out the cause, very heavy periods are symptomatic of something else going on such as hormonal imbalance, fibroids, polyps.

Agree that you need to see the GP to investigate why your periods are like this and to do a proper assessment for anaemia Thanks
