Recurrent vaginal thrush

I am desperate for help.

I have recurrent thrush. It’s cyclical. I get it the week before and the first day of my period.

I’m also peri menopausal and sometimes skip periods.

My BF and I use condoms. BUT The cyclical thrush predates him. He has also been treated with cream in the last month (he’s new BF).

Also have horrific athletes foot which they say is linked.

I’ve had creams and pessary. And the tablet.

I’m currently 3 months into a 6 month course of Fluconazole. Tablet every day for 3 days and then once a week for 6 months.

And I’ve thrush. My period is just starting and the itch is horrific and I’ve scratched til I’m sore.

My athletes foot is so bad between my toes is bleeding.

What can they do if I go back to the doc? I’m desperate.

Low carbing worked for me, took a month or so. It's never returned (7 years ago) & I no longer low carb

Blackoutblinds · 05/10/2018 08:49

I’ll try low carving too then :)

Honest to god of someone said standing on my head naked in the back garden at midnight would get rid of it.... at this point I’d give it a try!

Wrt to athletes foot i had it for years and years until my mum got me a toe nail paint that I used. I had tried everything and it finally worked. It began with an M i think and was from Holland and Barrett.

I am a big fan of carving!!! When I started on my exclusion diet it was to help my son who is was breastfeeding and I too would have danced round the garden naked of it worked. The eczema also does indicate sugar, gut, bacteria issues...

thighofrelief · 06/10/2018 15:25

The nail paint was Mykored available on Amazon and it cured my foot problem. Try to cut away as much nail as possible and even file it down from the top surface of your nail.

For the thrush have you tried a tampon soaked in plain yoghurt, disposable knickers and no pads at all?

QueenoftheNights · 06/10/2018 16:58

I've not read your whole thread OP but if it's not been mentioned before, try pre-biotics (eating the right food for your gut) and pro-biotics. (Any plain yoghurt is okay if it's got loads of good bacertia in.) plus showers, not baths.

QueenoftheNights · 06/10/2018 17:03

A couple of other ideas...

the reason you get it before a period is that progesterone (2nd half of cycle) raises the body temp and also affects the pH balance of the vagina.

So, you could find that some of the OTC gels (Actigel?) help to raise the acidic balance of the vagina help. (can buy in supermarkets.)

You could also try natural/organic sanitary protection. The chemicals in the regular stuff can cause irritation.

Oh - just read that you get it before your period so that wouldn’t help.
