Do I count this as my period?

My period usually follows the same pattern. Brown spotting evening before, medium flow day one, light flow day 2, light brown spotting for 1-2 days. This month it’s gone a bit weird.

I had brown spotting for a day about 9 days before my period was due (period was due yesterday) which was odd for me but I know it can be a hormonal thing. Friday night I noticed very very light watery brown spotting so expected my period Saturday. It didn’t come but I had slightly more brown spotting. Then yesterday when I was supposedly due, I had a lot more brown, more like a very light flow. I put my mooncup in, had some very mild cramps but nothing compared to what I normally get. When I took it out to clean/change it, it was again mostly brown, bit of very stretchy ewcm looking stuff (I get small clots in my period but at my heaviest point and they’re not stretchy, just small round bits, sorry for tmi!) Got up this morning fully expecting to be in full swing after so many days of spotting and then having the light brown flow yesterday and when I took my mooncup out there was just a small bit of brown in there again.

I’m a bit concerned at having “some” kind of period since Friday but no red bleeding. I’m worried something might be wrong and don’t know whether to speak to my doctor or not? If it’s nothing to worry about, when would you say my period started? Friday when I started spotting or yesterday when I had the light brown flow?

P.s. I’m not on any birth control and haven’t been for two years so I can rule that out as a factor!

How old are you?

It sounds very peri menopausal.

It also sounds as if you have light periods normally- many women have 5-6 days of bleeding with 1 light day when it starts, then 2-3 heavy /medium days and a light day at the end.

Do you have any other signs of low estrogen?
