Losing hope in contraception!!

Desperately after advice!!!!

I was on the combined pill for a couple of months a few months ago and suffered with unbearable headaches and relationship-damaging mood swings.
I was switched to the mini pill 8 weeks ago which has made me flare up in the most horrific eczema covering almost the entirety of my legs at this point.

I'm not even sure what to do now, I can't get an appointment for a few days.

Has anyone had any contraception that caused them NO side effects? Are some people just not made for it?

Feeling lost with it now Sad

Try a copper coil. Hormonal contraception is rubbish.

I've had side effects. But it really is a matter of trial and error to find which one is best. It does also need time to settle down. When I first took the pill in my late teens it gave me headaches, so I switched brands a few times before I found one that didn't.

Honestly, the symptoms of the pill are less than my mood swings on my natural cycle and my naturally excessively heavy flow. So it's all about why you need to take it and how bad it is. I take the injection now to stop my periods rather than contraception on its own.

I'm exactly the same as you, did your pill definitely cause the eczema, I have it too but was told it couldnt be because of the pill. Im not convinced though

I’ve been on and off depo for years with no side effects

blankies · 29/09/2018 21:58

@Confusednewname I'm 99% sure, it's the only thing that makes sense. I've always suffered with it and it flares up with different things and this is the only potential cause - I've spoke to a few other people who have had eczema show up when switching pills too!

@blankies Ive never heard of anyone else having it and the drs said it couldnt be that feel so much better knowing im not the only one!! Im looking into family planning and using the cap while using that method but needs a lot of research to make sure its reliable. Have you thought of that? Not a lot of people like those methods but i suppose if you use them together its more relyable

tatim · 30/09/2018 12:06

@Confusednewname I spoke to the doctor who said she's not particularly seen it before but one of the leading causes of eczema flare ups are hormone changes. Yeah, I am looking into family planning/natural cycle but don't know how reliable I am with it! It would be more than ideal if I could get it right!

Hi OP. Definitely the copper coil. I had really bad migraines and mastitis with anything hormone related- even the marina coil. Changed to copper, had 5 years of it before TTC. It's amazing for me, all natural cycle and no headaches. GP questioned why I wanted copper over marina, but gave in when I explained.
