Periods taking ages to start

In the past couple of years I’ve noticed that my periods semi-start for about 4/5 days before it actually starts and then I have a heavy period. Is there anything can take or do to make my period start? It’s the 4/5 days of semi-starting that drive me mad. Thanks.

I often have exactly the same thing!

Is it a perimenopause thing?

I had this with the copper cool, although more like 3 days. Since having it removed they've returned to normal.

Could be perimenopause - no other signs though.
