Period pants or mooncup

Not sure if this is the right place for this thread but it feels the most appropriate. Does anyone have experience of both? Which would you go for? I'm looking for a more sustainable, environement friendly period management but confused as to what to go for.

I've not tried the pants but I use washable pads, the imse vimse brand ones. They are very comfortable, don't leak, they're economical and good for the environment.
I've also tried a menstrual cup but although I tried it several times and really wanted to love it, it didn't work for me.

I prefer washable cotton pads to either. Couldn't get on with a mooncup and period pants don't work for me. I also love my Lunapads but they have the wicking issue.

Not sure exactly what the mooncup problem was. The stem was too long to be comfortable but if it was any shorter I'd never be able remove it. I found it slippery and very hard to get in and out. I ended up getting blood everywhere.

My period pants - Thinx - are uncomfortable and don't work for me. After half an hour or so the edge of the gusset gets bloody and that's it, they need changing. This happened when I had short, light periods (before the peri bloodbath began) so they're no use now except for the last day or so. They also irritate my skin, I suspect because they're not breathable.

Be wary of cheap pads. I ordered some via Amazon and they were microfibre and nylon, not bamboo or cotton or whatever was advertised.

Mooncup (tulipcup actually, though I wouldn't recommend the stem versiom) plus washable panty liners from eBay marketplace. Miles better than tampons and disposable wear! I like being able to change a pad easily if needed which would be more awkward if changing pants. And I love the tulip cup already!
