Mini Pill & prolonged bleeding

Have suffered really heavy bleeding due to fibroids, been under the hospital for a couple of years but nothing really sorted.

Latest appointment in July I was put on mini pill, two pills twice a day to see if that helped. I bled continually for about 8 weeks, having to double up both tampons and towels. This last week it finally appears to have trailed off.

Hospital said if all was well to cancel follow up appointment and continue with pill.

Having read on here, it does seem that the mini pill can take a few weeks to work, so my question is does this sound like it's finally working and my periods will stop/be lighter? Or is there a possibility they'll just start up heavy again in a couple of weeks?

Wondered at the experiences of others, and whether or not I should cancel the follow up which is middle of October?
